My Fastest Mile in a Long Time + Friday Thoughts

Hello there and happy Friday friends! I am just coming off of recording a podcast and an amazing 7 mile run, which is making me feel all the Friday feels. < how’s that for a run on sentence?

Anyways, I hope you all are having an amazing Friday so far and your weekend is off to a great start. Today, I wanted to share a few thoughts with you, before kicking off a busy two days (which I promise, I will make sure to document and share with you all on Monday morning!)

Last night, I came home from an awesome day out with friends and our kiddos and had a super emotional/hormonal couple hours. Thankfully my sister , Abby,  was there and we ran three miles together. After three miles, I was on the verge of tears (really don’t know why) and asked if she could watch Niah so I could pound out my emotions on the pavement.

And then what turned into an emotional roller coaster, turned into my fastest mile in a long time. 6:49. OH MY GOODNESS. I haven’t ran that fast for a while now! Seeing my speed come back is super rewarding!
It’s funny how running is so much more than just “running.” Running is about showing up and doing the work and stay the course and seeing just what potential you truly do have. And in the midst of the husband’s job change and longer days, running is a constant and some place I can take my crazy emotions and work through them in the midst of a hard, good run.
I am so thankful for the gift of running and the ability God has given me to run and bring Him glory.

Something I love about Hebrews 12:1-2 is that it talks about the race that is set before “us.” Our race that God had called us to, may look different than the person next to you. It may look different from others. But if it is our race, we must keep showing up. Doing the work. And being faithful in what God has called us to.

And something that I know He’s given me a passion and some talent in, is running.
So, I’m going to keep showing up and doing the work. Keep dreaming and keep finding joy in each run – hard or not. And whether life feels crazy or my emotions are all over the place, I know that in Christ, I am complete and with this gift called running, I can find some sense of normalcy and freedom. So let’s keep chasing, friends. And keep dreaming. And keep doing.

In other news, I just got some new shoes in the mail – my forever favorite Brooks Launch 4s and I couldn’t be more excited to go out for a run in them tomorrow morning! I have a long run on the books for tomorrow, so I will probably wear them for the first couple miles to break them in and then wear my old pair for the rest of the time.

Also, Landon and I have our date night tonight (which I am PUMPED) about. I am SO ready to relax and spend time together after a really busy week of work. As I mentioned earlier this week, Landon started his new job on Monday and the longer hours are leaving me feeling pretty tired. Thankfully, the days have been super fun and relaxing with Niah, but also busy. I have a feeling tonight will be some much needed relaxing, complete with games, coffee, and maybe some popcorn.

I hope you all have an awesome weekend ahead of you and I will be back Monday with a full-blown weekend recap!
