Apple Picking, Running, and ALL THINGS FALL (Saturday recap)

Is it just me or did this weekend FLY by? Maybe it was because last week Landon had 3 days off work, but man, did this weekend go by quickly?! I hope you all are popping over to the blog this morning, coming off a of a relaxing weekend – and hopefully your’s felt a little slower.

Even though our weekend flew by, it was filled with all of my favorite things > time with family, running, fellowship at church, and good food. Hard to beat that combo!

Let’s rewind to Saturday…

Saturday morning, we all decided to sleep in. Friday evening, we celebrated my brother-in-law’s birthday, and partied wayy to late. Thankfully, Benaiah slept in a little, which allowed both Landon and I to sleep past 8 (which never happens!) It felt so good to get some extra rest and I woke up with just enough time to read my devotions and sip on some coffee.

Shortly after devotions, Benaiah woke up, really frustrated that the light was shining through is windows – (I think someone needed more sleep.) Once he calmed down, I made him breakfast and played with Landon.

Music to my ears, “I’ll watch Benaiah babe, you go run…” < Landon got some brownie points right away Saturday morning, by offering to watch Benaiah so I could sneak in a quick, three mile run. I happily jumped on the opportunity to run without the stroller and ran a quick, quiet 3 miles without my headphones. Usually, I am listening to music or a podcast, but it felt good to run a majority of the miles without sound. Instead, I worked on my form, counted my stride frequency and paid attention to little details that I don’t normally get to do while pushing the stroller. I was happy to see that I was running with a cadence of around 180 per minute > which is what you are supposed to shoot for. Yay! The run felt SO good and I ended, feeling fresh with 3 miles under my belt for the day. I am hoping to start increasing my mileage once everything feels totally happy – I am hoping within the next week or so!

Once my run was finished, Landon surprised me and Benaiah with a trip to the apple orchard! Local friends,we hit up Jonamac Orchard and LOVED it! Growing up, I went a couple times, but didn’t remember all the fun things the orchard offers. Benaiah loved picking the apples off the trees and equally loved petting the goats. At first, he was a little hesitant, but after 20 minutes of feeding/petting the goats, he was wanting to give them kisses. We both decided that we needed to own goats sometime in the future. That sound okay, honey?

We ended our time at Jonamac, eating donuts and running around their playground. Benaiah quickly fell asleep during the car ride home and stayed asleep for 45 minutes once we got home!

Landon and I ate a quick dinner and while he left for bowling with a friend, Benaiah and I hung out together playing with trucks, watching a veggie tale, and snuggling together before bed. Saturday, you were good.
