A Perfect Summer Evening

And just like that we are back to Monday morning. How does the weekend go by so quickly? Our weekend was literally a blur of activity from start to finish. Landon left Friday night for a guys’ road trip to Nebraska for a short, weekend trip (he and some friends went to see Warren Buffet speak.) While he was gone, I hung out at my parents and spent time visiting them. It was super fun, but I was more than ready to see Landon and get back into our regular routine. After a crazy, but fun week last week, I have plans to keep the next seven days or so pretty laid back. Since I didn’t get many photos of Saturday, I thought I would share a peek into our pretty-much perfect Sunday evening.

Sunday

Sunday morning, after a crazy morning driving back from my parents and prepping a meal to take to a friend, we went to church together. It felt so good to be back together as a family and with our church family. We listened to a great sermon (which was just what I needed to hear) and afterwards, ate good food and talked with even better people. After lunch, we headed back home and I rode in the backseat to keep Niah awake. Unless I sit with him in the back of the car, Niah always falls asleep in the car – which is fine, unless we want him to sleep at home. Once we got back, Niah went down fairly easily and went spent our next few hours alone watching Psych, relaxing together and we both ended up falling asleep too. Nap for Niah and nap for parents = happy days.

I woke up, STARVING, so I quickly went into the kitchen, made some avocado egg salad (I always forget how good egg/avocado salad is) and paired it with some random tortilla chips and guacamole and nuts. < If you can’t tell we are low on groceries, which I think means I need to make a trip today. Anyways, we all ate a quick, easy dinner, and eventually made our way outside to enjoy the gorgeous weather. Last week, the weather was unusually hot for this time of year, and even though I loved it, it was nice to have some ‘springlike’ weather around for a change of pace.

While we were walking, Landon surprised me with a quick trip to pick up some gelato. I love that man. He treated me and Niah to some vegan, lavender gelato for making it two weeks, so far in the new job! I am so thankful for Landon and his continual hard work and sacrifice. Really, the gelato should have been for him and a celebration of his hard work the past two weeks, but he wanted to celebrate me and my hard work the past two weeks during this adjustment. He really is the sweetest guy, I know and it’s the little things like gelato at our favorite, local place that makes me so happy.

Benaiah loved it too. These are the best days.

Landon got a vanilla/salty cookie gelato in a waffle cone and it was out for this world, good. He saved the last bite for me, which is always my favorite. Does anyone else like the bottom of ice cream cones?

Once our cravings where satisfied, we headed to the park and spent time dreaming, walking, talking, and doing all my favorite things. I honestly love being outside as much as possible during the summer and walking with my boys is one of my favorite summer activities.

Benaiah loved showing daddy how he could go down the slide, all by himself and we proceeded to spend time on the slides for the next little while. I love seeing Niah find joy in such simple things like slides and balls and birds and cars and trucks and gelato. I hope I always remember these days.

Sunday was honestly so refreshing and I am thankful to be here, Monday morning feeling ready for a new week of fun adventures and I’m sure, crazy moments. After the park, we headed back home, tucked Niah in bed, and fell asleep shortly after him.

I hope you all have an awesome week ahead of you! I will catch you all tomorrow.
