Top Ten Favorite Christmas Movies

Currently, I’m sitting here with a sleeping Benaiah on my chest, trying to type and snuggle him in an office chair. Life these days is pretty comical. On another random note, Landon came home yesterday with a bunch of mysterious packages and stayed up late wrapping them. I woke up to beautifully wrapped Christmas presents labeled, “To my Bethany,” (heart melted!) and I’m dying to know what they are…I promise, I’ll be good and wait.  😉

Thankfully I won’t have to wait long, since Christmas is only FIVE DAYS AWAY! Can you believe it? I would also like to assure you, that I am now almost completely done Christmas shopping and man, does it feel good!

On the blog front, yesterday’s post did not go as planned, between below zero temperatures, a little boy who didn’t want to take a nap, and a slightly under the weather husband, my recap post will have to be saved for tomorrow! In the meantime, I thought it would be fun to write about a few of my favorite Christmas movies and why I like them. Most of the reasons are sentimental, you’ll just have to bear with me. 😉

Let’s begin shall we?

Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer

I remember wayyy back to watching this at my first home, cuddling up with my parents and hiding underneath my parent’s buffet when the abominable snowman came on the scene. Since then, my tolerance for scary scenes has increased, but I do love this classic.

It’s  a Wonderful Life

Its-A-Wonderful-Life

If I had to pick an all time favorite Christmas movie, It’s A Wonderful Life would take the cake! I don’t really even know why this is considered a Christmas classic, since it doesn’t have a lot to do with the holiday, but I do love the message that it carries and the classic one liners. “This is a very interesting situation…” <<< Name that part!

The Polar Express

Something about this movie makes me feel so warm and fuzzy on the inside. Maybe it’s the music, or the characters themselves, regardless, this movie ranks up there as one of my top favorites and a must see during the Christmas season.

Santa Clause is Coming to Town

Santa Clause is Coming to Town is another Christmas movie that I grew up on. I loved how it introduced you to Kris Kringle before he became Santa Clause. And because I’m a girl, I loved the part where he met “Jessica” (aka Mrs. Clause) and fell in love. Typical girl. 😉

The Nativity Story

Nativity

The Nativity Story is a favorite for a couple reasons.

  1. I love watching movies/reading books that remind me of why we even celebrate this thing called Christmas. Coming back to the reason for the season is so important and equally refreshing.
  2. After watching this movie, I was impressed with how closely they kept with the Biblical narrative of Jesus’ birth. Gotta love a movie that is not only done well, but also done accurately.

Elf

If you like to laugh and you are okay with watching ridiculous movies, I would recommend Elf. Between his total innocence, sugar obsession, and genuine love to spread, “Christmas cheer,” this one is a total winner.

The Christmas Card

I am a sucker for a good, slightly cheesy, mostly predictable Hallmark Christmas movie and this one fits the bill. Full of romance and of course, drama, this one is sure to satisfy your sappy Christmas movie desires.

White Christmas

Who doesn’t love a classic, filled with dancing, singing, and of course, great costumes? White Christmas isn’t only a great movie, it’s a classic that I always like to watch during the holiday season!

The Grinch Who Stole Christmas

My siblings and I LOVED this movie and requested to watch it every single year. Jim Carrey does a great job impersonating “The Grinch,” and little Cindy Lou Who is adorable.

A Charlie Brown Christmas

It isn’t Christmas without watching a Charlie Brown Christmas, or is it? I’ve decided you just can’t go wrong with the Peanuts.

And with that, I’m signing off for now, I still need to clean up after my workout today and I need to get lunch ready for the husband! Talk with you all soon.
