Thanksgiving 2014

Psalm 100:4

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!”

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope your day was filled with all the blessings that the Lord gives. I hope you took time to cherish family, eat lots of delicious food, and make memories that will last a lifetime.

This Thanksgiving, we hosted, which meant we were in charge of most of the food. Because my sisters, mom, and I have spent so much time in the kitchen together over the years, we have learned how to get things done quickly and efficiently. Because we are so efficient together, this Thanksgiving prep was like a dream. (I am really going to miss their help and the company when I older and have a family…)

Anyways, Thanksgiving morning mom and I ran a local 5k Turkey Trot.

It was rather cold and really icy, which forced me to slow down (not a fan of slow running!), but it was a lot of fun. I ended up placing 3rd in my division, 6th female overall, and 20th person overall. It was definitely not my best time, but still a lot of fun and they handed out some awesome t-shirts!

Isn’t that shirt awesome? It is so soft, I might even sleep in it…

Anyways, after we ran, we came home, drank coffee, and made dinner.

On the Menu

  • Turkey (of course)
  • Mashed Potatoes
  • Sweet Potato Casserole (recipe to come)
  • Stuffing
  • Brussel Sprouts
  • Corn
  • Cooked Carrots
  • Bran Buns

And for dessert

  • Pumpkin Pie
  • Pumpkin Cheesecake
  • Crustless Pumpkin Pie (recipe to come)
  • Grandma’s Famous Cherry Cobbler
  • Apple Caramel Walnut Angel Food Cake

Needless to say, we had more than enough food to go around.

After the food was made, family arrived and we celebrated the meaning of Thanksgiving. We thanked the Lord for His provision in our lives, for the love around the table, and for the food that was given to us.

Thanksgiving always reminds me of how grateful I am and, how much the Lord has given me that I could never deserve.

Thanksgiving reminds me to give thanks for…

abby

My beautiful sister and aunt. These two ladies have always been there for me, they know how to make me laugh and how to support me. I am so blessed and thankful that the Lord placed them in my life.

hannah

“Almost” family. I am excited to see where the Lord takes Hannah and Nathaniel. I am blessed to have her in our family and be my other sister.

sisters

My wonderful younger sister. Emily is such a gem. She always makes me laugh until I am embarrassed and she is a great listener.

shoes

My amazing mom and running. Enough said.

grandma

And my beautiful grandma. Grandma is one of my heroes, her wit shines, and she is such an amazing woman of God. I pray that I become more like her, and that I will be as cool as she is when I am her age.

I am also thankful for the two men in my life. My father and my brother. These two men are always an example of manliness, godliness, and love. I am proud to call them my family and thankful for their friendship.

So, happy Thanksgiving to everyone. May you enjoy all the goodness that the Lord has given to each one of us.
