Shoe Review: Mizuno Wave Sky

This post is sponsored by Mizuno, but all thoughts and opinions are my own. As always thank you for your continued support of Lulu Runs.

I think the saying ‘diamonds are a girls best friend’ is totally off base. How about ‘running shoes are a girls best friend.’ Muuucch better.

If you guys have been reading my blog for a while now, you probably know that I am a long time fan of Mizuno running shoes. My first pair of real running shoes were the Mizuno Wave Rider 15s (they are now out with Wave Rider 20s!) and I fell. in. love. Those shoes carried me through mile after mile of half marathon training and although I switched shoes about two weeks before the race (because they had waayyy to many miles on them) I couldn’t have done my half marathon without those shoes.

Since my Wave Rider 15s, I’ve worn their Rider 18s, 19s, and Mizuno Wave Engimas. (You can read that review here.) And as much as I have loved them all, when I slipped on the Mizuno Wave Sky, I knew this would be my new, favorite model.

Why?

The Mizuno Wave Sky is lighter than my other typical, Mizuno shoes, while still having enough support and cushion, which keeps my body happy! I felt a lot lighter and quicker on my feet wearing them, while having happy legs and joints. I really appreciate the extra long laces too, for easy tying, as well as the super fun colors.

Because, let’s be honest, a big part of shoe hunting is finding the ones with the best style. Am I right or am I right?

Also, a quick side note or is the new style to wear these higher than the typical ankle socks? Because, if it is, that is fine with me.

Moving on…

Another thing that I loved about this shoe is the way it fits around my Achilles and ankle area. My ankles and Achilles are kind of thin and some shoes don’t fit around my ankle as well as I would like. Thankfully these shoes fit perfectly, I felt like Cinderella.

According to Mizuno, some other key, technical features include:

“All new Mizuno SmoothRide: New maximum cloudwave technology coupled with full length, articulated U4icX midsole delivers a plush, flexible ride
New thicker and premium anatomical sockliner for improved fit and comfort
U4icX strobel lining for added comfort
Mizuno DynamotionFit: 3 panel upper construction with skin-like seamless midfoot and minimal forefoot for a disappearing fit.”

In conclusion, I would totally recommend these shoes and have really enjoyed wearing them for my short to mid distance runs! I have yet to try out a long run in them, but now that I have racked up some mileage on them, I am ready to try out some long distance runs with them!

Once again, thank you Mizuno for the shoes! I love them and they are perfect for all my upcoming marathon training!

And thank you, to all of my readers for your continued support of  Lulu Runs! Love you all.
