Recent, Favorite Finds (Cookbook Addition!)

The past couple months, I’ve been digging deep into nutrition and really looking into what good, solid fueling of our bodies looks like. There are SO MANY fads, so many theories, and opinions, and while I am at this pivitol point in our family life of establishing habits and philosophies (on food) I wanted to really nail down what food looks like for us. < How about that run on sentence. #winning

Anyways, as I’m diving into this new, fun crunchy granola mama lifestyle, I’m doing a lot of reading, learning, and researching. The fun part (possibly scary part) is that I LOVE it. I love learning about food and what good health actually looks like (as opposed to social trends and cultural norms.) In my quest for optimal nutrition for my family (side note: nutrition isn’t always going to be perfect and that’s okay. I’m hunting for the best nutrition mindset/ habits I can instill into my home. Perfection is definitely not the aim.) I’ve found a few books and cookbooks that I am loving right now! Not only are they GORGEOUS, but I am loving learning from them.

Here are a few of my top favorites.

Run Fast, Eat Slow

As I runner, I knew I needed to get my hands on elite runner, Shalane Flannagans cookbook! And guys, this cookbook is legit! The pictures are gorgeous, the recipes are amazing and I love how it has broken down pantry staples and explanations for why they use the ingredients that they do use. Some of our favorite recipes are the Superhero Muffins, Almond milk, and the spaghetti sauce!

Healthy Glow

Ever since diagnosing (not clincally yet, but by elimination) Benaiah’s dairy allergy I’ve been on the hunt for some more vegan (or at least non diary) recipes. I love to experiment and come up with my own meals, but sometimes (at least) having inspiration is nice! Recently, I stumbled upon Angela Liddon’s Healthy Glow cookbook and I am OBSSSESED. Not only is this a GORGEOUS cookbook, but the recipes are vegan, easy to make, simple ingredients, and come together quickly! Not to mention, they are delicious!

The Whole Foods Diet

The more I learn about nutrition, the more fascinated I grow! Recommended by a friend, this fascinated read about mainly living a plant based lifestyle is really making me think! It was written by Whole Foods CEO/founder and I love reading from different people’s perspectives. Right now, I am halfway through, but I will make sure to give you more of the full scoop, afterwards!
