Large Salads, the First Hot Chocolate of the Season, and Friends Over (WIAW 10/11)

Before Benaiah entered our world, almost six (?!) weeks ago, I was told “the days will be long and the weeks will be short.” So far, that saying has proved true! Yesterday, was one of those long days. It wasn’t necessarily a bad long day, it was just filled with a lot of activities and a fussy Benaiah. In contrast, this week has flown by, I’m not at all mad that we’ve reached the middle of the week!

Let’s rewind to Wednesday morning.

Since we had company coming in the morning, I woke up early and jumped in the shower. But, not without coffee of course.

After making Landon breakfast, my wet head and I (who has time to blow dry?!) fed Benaiah, picked up the house, blogged, checked emails, and I ate breakfast.

In the midst of my busy morning, I forgot to take a picture. If you’ve been reading my blog for any amount of time, I’m sure you can imagine my typical breakfast smoothie.

Shortly after my smoothie, my mom, sisters, and friends stopped over to see Benaiah (and me too…I think 😉 )

After visiting for a few hours, we decided to hit up one of my favorite breakfast/lunch spots.

You can see why it’s one of my favorites. I’m pretty sure this salad was made with a whole bag a lettuce. Just the way I like it.

If you ever have a chance to stop at buttermilk, I highly recommend it. There salads were on point and their sweet potato fries are excellent! (Thanks for sharing mom!)

My sister got this Smore hot chocolate. How beautiful is this thing?

After lunch, we headed back to my place and hung out for a little while longer until they had to leave. A while later, Benaiah and I went on a 2 mile walk around our favorite trail. Yesterday’s weather was perfect, slightly breezy and just warm enough to not be too cold. As Anne Shirley said, “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”

After our walk, I refueled with a spoonful of peanut butter and a large cup of coffee.

October evenings also mean waiting on the porch for dad to come home. As innocent as his face looks, don’t let him fool you. He was being a little cranky, so I decided to take him out on the porch to wait for dad to come home. Benaiah seems to love the outside, and immediately comes down when we take him out.

Dad came home shortly and Benaiah was quite happy about it.

My two favorites.

Shortly after Landon came home, we decided to eat a quick dinner of stir fry and head out to play frisbee.

Okay, Landon played frisbee and I watched Benaiah, who decided to be quite fussy. I think he was overly tired, which ended up working to our advantage last night!

We ended our night with the first hot chocolate of the season (and a scoop of ice cream because I’m still hanging onto summer nights.)

I’m off for now, have a beautiful Wednesday friends!

Questions of the Day

  1. What was the best thing you ate yesterday?
  2. You choose: apple cider or hot chocolate?
  3. Do you play ultimate frisbee? If not, what’s your favorite group sport?
