Fitness Fridays + Will I See You There?

DSC_4095
Hello from my awkward, happy running face to you and happy FriYAY! I am so glad we finally made it to the end of the week and can’t wait for this weekend. I have my sister-in-law’s baby shower on Sunday and I am super pumped to celebrate the life of my first ever niece or nephew.

Until I celebrate this weekend, I wanted to pop in the blog today and share my workouts of the week so far, to give you a glimpse into my every day workout regime. I don’t know about you, but I love when other bloggers share posts like these, because A: they give me ideas for my workouts next week B: I am noisy.

If you are like me and love being noisy, I will satisfy that curiosity of yours by not wasting any time and diving head first…

Sunday – off

I always take Sundays as a rest day for myself and as usual, last Sunday was rest from my normal workouts. We did go to a park and walk around for a while, but we both took a break from a normal workout regime.

Monday – Three mile stroller run + stretching and foam rolling.

I don’t know about you, but I love working out on Mondays. Have you guys seen that hashtag on Instagram #nevermissamonday. I so agree with that! For me, Monday workouts set the tone for the rest of the week, and while missing a Monday workout won’t ruin the rest of the week, I love starting off a new week with a sweat session!

Benaiah and I ran three miles and enjoyed the fresh air. My legs felt strong and the stretching session afterwards was almost just a fun as the run. (Almost, not quite.) 😉

Tuesday – Four mile stroller run + stretching and foam rolling.

I had planned to go four miles with Benaiah on Tuesday and even though it was a longer than normal stroller run, it felt really good and I am so excited to see continual postpartum running progression! Let me tell you, running with a stroller is no joke. I now have even more respect for those moms who run races with their strollers. RESPECT.

Wednesday – 2 mile easy run + a half mile of strides

I wasn’t planning on a run on Wednesday, but when I woke up early and saw the beautiful weather, I knew I couldn’t stay inside and do the ab video I had planned. So, instead of working out in the living room, I kissed Landon goodbye and whispered a quick ‘love you,’ to the sleeping Benaiah and ran a quick to miles.

The weather was absolutely gorgeous and I couldn’t help but love the stroller- less run. Even though it was only two miles it felt challenging, since my legs were tired from my other two runs and I was running at a faster pace. I finished the run with a half mile of strides and some deep stretching/ foam rolling.

Thursday – Upper body + Abs

Since, Friday was a long run day, I kept Thursday pretty low key with a sweaty upper body (chest focused) workout video and a ten minute ab video. Although it doesn’t sound like much, the twenty minutes of combined videos left me sweaty and high on endorphins!

As much as I love running, a good ab burn is nice too!

Friday – (planned) 6 mile long run + strength training routine

So, it is Thursday night as I type this up, but I am planning on running six miles in the morning and finishing up with some strength training and a lot of deep stretching and foam rolling.

Make sure to follow along on my Instagram for updates. 😉

Saturday – (planned) Total Body Pilates routine+ a 3 mile walk

Saturday’s are usually my long run days, but since Landon has a soccer game and we are meeting up with friends at the game, I’m moving my long run to Friday and then keeping Saturday a recovery day with some light strength training (a total body Pilates video) and an easy walk with my friend and our boys.

And that’s it- a week of workouts! Also, I will be going LIVE today on Facebook in my running community, talking about strength training and why it is important and how to do it! I will be live at 3:00 PM CST, click the link here to join the community and hop on the Facebook LIVE with me! Will I see you there?

I hope you guys have a fantastic weekend and if I don’t see you on LIVE, I will talk with you guys again on Monday!
