Celebrating the Good Times

You know those weekends were you come off feeling super loved, relaxed, and productive? Yes, last weekend was one of those weekends.

It started off with a hot, steamy cup of coffee and a wide away Benaiah. Lately, Benaiah has been getting up right as I roll over and wake up from my deep sleep too. Unfortunately, that doesn’t give me a whole bunch of time to actually wake up mentally and prepare for the day. However, on Saturday’s I don’t really mind it and we snuggled on the couch while Landon got our coffees and Bibles. While we had devotions and our sacred morning cup of coffee, Benaiah ate a banana as his breakfast appetizer.

After devotions, I made Niah a bowl of oatmeal and smoothies for Landon and I before we decided to take a few hours and work on home projects. We have been meaning to do a closet purge for a while now and since this was one Saturday that had a free morning, we decided to tackle the closet project asap. After an hour or so of pulling out clothing pieces one by one and organizing dressers/drawers, we decided to get outside and get some movement in.

I normally do a long run on Saturday’s, but since I ran 10 miles on Thursday, I took Saturday easy and ran an easy paced 3 mile run with the boys. It is so life giving to get outside and move around. I am so ready for warmer weather and excited to get a lot more family runs in once it warms up a bit! That 3 mile run put me at 33 for the week > which is higher than I’ve been since my marathon training, so you could say I was excited 😉

Shortly after arriving home, I made us some salads and we topped them with whatever we could find in the fridge. Mine was mixed greens + feta cheese + quiona + black beans + lentils + tempeh. SO GOOD. The rest of the afternoon was spent doing laundry, cleaning the house, organizing drawers, and drinking coffee. Oh, and writing this blog post.

Niah woke up around 4:30 and we were off to surprise my sister for her sweet 16! It was so fun to celebrate with her and make her feel loved! We ate chili, talked and watched Toy Story 2. I forgot how good Pixar films are!

After a late night on Saturday, it felt good to have a slow morning before church started. We drank smoothies, ate toast and lounged around for a while. After church, we spent an hour or so getting ready for Landon’s family to come over and celebrate my birthday (from last week.)

Instead of making a huge meal, we kept things simple with build your own subs, sweet potato chips and hummus and then enjoyed some ice cream (Breyers chocolate/peanut butter is INSANE!)

All in all it was an awesome weekend, busy but full of family time and celebration. And those kind of weekends make the best kind of weekends.
