Basic Homemade Hummus

Anyone who knows me well, knows that I have an obsession with a couple things in life like: The Lord, Landon, Baby T, running, sweet potatoes, cottage cheese (especially dipping pretzels into it), and hummus.

Confession: I am so crazy about hummus that I got the ingredients to make homemade hummus as part of a bridal shower gift. (Thanks Mrs. Dawn!)

Hummus is one of my favorite dips. I love trying out different flavors, brands, and putting it in different dishes, salads, and sandwiches. I’ve bought hummus many times and although hummus isn’t expensive to buy, it’s way cheaper to make yourself. (And just as tasty too!)

This recipe is my favorite basic version of hummus. It is fast, easy, and basic enough that you can add whatever spices in that you find appealing.

Basic Homemade Hummus:

  • 1 can Chickpeas– (drained)
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. Tahini
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. Olive Oil
  • 1 Tbsp. White Vinegar
  • Salt to taste
  • Garlic powder to taste
  • Enough water to get the hummus smooth
  • *Optional add ins* : Green Olives, Allspice, Onion powder, Chili powder, Cumin, etc.

Add all ingredients into blender or food processor. Blend until smooth.

Enjoy with fresh vegetables, pita chips, on wraps, sandwiches, or simply a big spoonful. (I won’t judge.) 😉
